About the Boston Higashi School Jazz Band:

The Boston Higashi School Jazz Band was formed in 1988 and provides students with autism opportunities for mastery of more advanced instruments, to work harmoniously in a group, to develop self-confidence and pride, and, most importantly, to contribute to the joy of his/her family, friends, and society as a whole.  All members participate in performances on the local, national, and international level.

A message about "Ozora Strings" from Director Toshiko Arai:

We founded our string orchestra with students who graduated from public middle school in Sendai, Miyagi, Japan, hoping to create opportunities for many people, while sharing the joy of music through activities during students' spare time between studies and jobs.  It has been ten years since we started.  Some years we have more members, and other years less members.  To celebrate our our 10th anniversary, we have been planning activities that fit our milestone.  After we experienced the earthquake and tsunami disaster three years ago, we have received many supports from all over the world, including Boston Higashi School.  We would like to show our appreciation to Boston Higashi School through this collaborative concert.  We also would like to share how we have been supporting each other through music these past three years.
